Comparing the COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser with one alternative: Skin Matters Gentle Gel Cleanser. COSRX facts come from COSRX’s own product page (last checked 2 October 2026). We have not tested them against each other, and we do not claim one is better.
We will not put words in other people’s mouths, so we are not quoting reviews. These are the reasons COSRX itself gives on its product page.
Its published ingredient list also includes several plant extracts, a yeast ferment and allantoin. You can read the full list on COSRX’s page.
Use this list on any cleanser, including ours.
If a cleanser meets these and suits your skin, it is a reasonable choice, whichever brand makes it.

A note on the pH numbers: COSRX publishes a range, 5.31 plus or minus 1.00. Ours is formulated at 5.5. Both are mildly acidic, and the two figures overlap. We do not claim a meaningful difference between them.
One thing the two have in common: both ingredient lists include cocamidopropyl betaine as a cleansing agent, and both include allantoin.
There is no overall winner here. Pick by what matters to you.
| If you want | Consider | Why |
|---|---|---|

| A plain cleansing step because you use actives elsewhere | Skin Matters | No exfoliating acid, no retinol, no benzoyl peroxide in the list. |
| To avoid tea tree oil or essential oils | Skin Matters | None in the ingredient list. |
| Tea tree oil in your cleanser | COSRX | It is one of the two ingredients COSRX highlights. |
| Ceramide, panthenol and hyaluronic acid in the list | Skin Matters | All three are on our pack. They are not in the COSRX list we read. |
| A bigger size | COSRX | 150 ml is available. |
| A small tube to try or travel with | Either | Both come in 50 ml. |

Whichever you choose, patch test first. How to patch test
No. The formulas are different. COSRX highlights betaine salicylate and tea tree oil. Skin Matters highlights ceramide NP, panthenol, Centella Asiatica, rice extract and sodium hyaluronate. What they share is a category: a gel cleanser with a mildly acidic pH.
No. It is made in India. The formula follows a Korean skincare philosophy, which in practice means a gentle, low-pH cleanse and a focus on keeping the skin barrier comfortable.
COSRX publishes 5.31±1.00. Ours is formulated at 5.5. Both are mildly acidic and the figures overlap, so we do not claim a difference.
No. None of them is in the ingredient list.
We cannot say, and we would not trust a brand that did without a test to show for it. COSRX describes its cleanser as great for all skin types. Our pack shows acne-prone among the skin types it suits. Neither is an acne treatment.
Skin Matters is MRP ₹499 for 50 ml, selling at ₹399. For the COSRX cleanser, check the current price with the brand’s authorised sellers in India. Compare the price per ml, not only the price on the tube.
You can, but there is no need to. One gentle cleanser, used morning and night, is enough.
